Experienced Archaeologist - Principal level

Location: Leeds

Within this large and successful Environmental and Maritime business, their focus is to advise on sustainability issues including renewable energy, low carbon economies.

To meet the growing UK business needs and future development aspirations, they require a Principal Archaeologist to be based from the Leeds office. The successful individual will support a range of projects for clients in major public and private sector organisations and will become part of a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities.

Responsibilities
You will have relevant experience in the preparation of


• Desk-based assessments
• Desk-based surveys
• Experience preparing cultural heritage inputs to all stages of EIA
• Infrastructure, in particular highways experience would be of particular value as would experience in designing, procuring and managing archaeological fieldwork.
For this role, strong technical skills along with excellent report writing ability is required and you will be a Member of the Chartered Institute for Archaeologists. In return, the business can offer involvement in a wide range of exciting and often high profile projects, with significant opportunities to develop technical and management skills.

Key Responsibilities:


• Lead on cultural heritage inputs to all stages of EIA.
• Manage the production of desk-based assessments and heritage statements.
• Design of evaluation and mitigation, procurement and management of contractors.
• Provide client advice and support on heritage matters relating to planning, EIA and the development in general.
• Liaise with clients, engineers, other design team members, and curators.
• Mentor and provide leadership of more junior staff.
• Develop and maintain excellent client relationships.
Qualifications
Essential:


• A good degree qualification in archaeology or related discipline.
