Why do you need to be ID Verified?

From March 2025, advertisers in adult categories on Vivastreet UK must complete Identity Verification (IDV) to continue posting ads. This step is not just a technical requirement; it’s a vital measure to ensure compliance with the law and create a safer online space for everyone.

Here’s why ID verification is essential:

Ensuring safety and compliance

The Online Safety Act is a new UK law that protects children and adults online, placing new responsibilities on online platforms including Vivastreet. On 17 March 2025, elements of the new law will come into effect, requiring us to verify that all advertisers in our adult categories are aged 18 or over. Your privacy matters

We understand that privacy is a significant concern for many users. That’s why ID verification is handled by YOTI, a trusted third-party platform with millions of users worldwide. All ID verification is undertaken securely, and your data will only be processed in compliance with our Privacy Policy.

Building trust and transparency

Mandatory IDV also helps build trust within our community. By ensuring all advertisers in adult categories meet the required legal and ethical standards, we create a more reliable and trustworthy platform. Users can have confidence that they are interacting in a safe and compliant environment, whether they are posting ads or engaging with content. Mandatory IDV is not just a compliance measure – it’s a proactive step toward creating a safer, more secure online environment. We appreciate your cooperation as we implement this important process to better protect our community.
