Although it\u2019s been around for a few years now, the acronym \u2018MILF\u2019 stands for \u2018Mother I\u2019d Like to F**K\u2019. Initially intended as a (backhanded) compliment, it refers to an attractive older woman who may or may not have kids.<\/span><\/p>\n

What makes a woman a MILF?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Being a <\/span>MILF<\/span><\/a> doesn\u2019t <\/span>necessarily <\/span><\/i>mean having children, and the \u2018M\u2019 in MILF could stand for \u2018Mature\u2019 instead. In fact, the latter meaning would probably be a more accurate description of what a MILF is because this preference is all about age.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

So what makes a woman a MILF?<\/b><\/p>\n

One of the key attributes of a MILF is that she is sexually experienced. This gives the impression of knowing what she wants in bed, and how to get it, along with the perceived promise of being a skilled lover. The term MILF was popularised by the 1999 movie, American Pie. While this is undoubtedly when it made its way into the mainstream, it seems its origins actually go further back.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In the 1960s, the film \u2018The Graduate\u2019 saw a young man falling for the much older wife of his father\u2019s friend, bringing the idea of young men and older women into the public domain. Then, in the early 90s, the term MILF was coined by an <\/span>internet group<\/span><\/a> that was discussing Playboy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

However, it was <\/span>American Pie<\/span><\/a> which really catapulted the idea into the minds of men everywhere, and that\u2019s when the concept really took root.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Since then, there have been endless examples in popular culture, from Fergie\u2019s \u2018<\/span>M.I.L.F $\u2019<\/span><\/a> video, in which a milkman delivers to a neighbourhood full of sexy mamas, to Fountains of Wayne\u2019s <\/span>\u2018Stacy\u2019s Mom<\/span><\/a>\u2019, about a youngster who fancies his girlfriend\u2019s very attractive mother instead of his girlfriend.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

What\u2019s the attraction?<\/b><\/h2>\n

According to <\/span>Pornhub\u2019s<\/span><\/a> 2021 review, \u2018MILF\u2019 was the 4<\/span>th<\/span> most searched term, while in <\/span>2018<\/span><\/a> it was number 3, proving that its popularity hasn\u2019t really waned over the years.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In fact, one of the richest porn stars in the world \u2013 Lisa Ann \u2013 <\/span>made her millions<\/span><\/a> by portraying MILF roles in some of her 289 movies.<\/span><\/p>\n

In looking at the reasons why people are attracted to MILFs, we should start with the psychology of it, although in the case of Sigmund Freud, we\u2019re not sure he was altogether accurate.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to the Grandfather of Psychology, it comes down to what is known as the Oedipus Complex, otherwise known as \u2013 and we\u2019re paraphrasing here – a male\u2019s unconscious desire to be the centre of his mother\u2019s world or the only object of her love.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some would say<\/span><\/a> that the attraction to MILFs is an extension of that but focuses on someone else\u2019s mother, instead.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While being a mother is a part of the attraction with women, the evidence of that motherhood is invisible \u2013 thankfully.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
