From <\/span>March 2025<\/b>, mandatory Identity Verification (IDV) will go live for all UK advertisers in adult categories. This is an important change designed to ensure compliance with the <\/span>Online Safety Act<\/b> and to create a safer online space for everyone. Here\u2019s everything you need to know to prepare for IDV.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

What is mandatory IDV?<\/b><\/h2>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

IDV requires advertisers to verify their identity and prove they are 18 years of age or older. This involves two key steps:<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    \r\n
  1. Providing a government-issued identity document<\/b> (e.g., passport or driving licence).<\/span><\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
  2. Submitting a live photo (biometric face scan)<\/b>, which will be matched to the ID document.<\/span><\/li>\r\n<\/ol>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    IDV will be carried out through <\/span>YOTI<\/b><\/a>, a trusted third-party platform with over 14 million users globally. Your identity will not be shown your advert and will be processed securely and privately, in compliance with our Privacy Policy.<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Why is this happening?<\/span><\/h3>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    The <\/span>Online Safety Act<\/b> is a new law that protects children and adults online, placing responsibilities on online platforms including Vivastreet. On 17 March 2025, elements of the new law will come into effect, requiring us to verify that all advertisers in our adult categories are aged 18 or over.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    Completing your IDV is quick and straightforward. Here\u2019s how:<\/em><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

    1. Log into your Vivastreet account.<\/b><\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
    2. Navigate to the IDV section in your account settings or follow the prompts in the advert posting flow.<\/span><\/li>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n
