The Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong learning Sector (DTLLS) is designed for those already in a full teaching role or someone intending to enter the profession in that role. The qualification is also appropriate for teachers, tutors, and trainers who may be working within an FE college, Adult and Community Learning Centre or Learning Provider and for those delivering work based training e.g. within voluntary, community and private and public organisations.

This qualification can be used to claim the Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) status and will develop the necessary knowledge, skills and attributes for teaching across a wide range of levels, audience and learning programms as well as promote evaluation and reflection on personal and professional practice.

Entry requirements:

1. Level 2 qualification Maths and English (GCSE or equivalent)

2. You should have a Level 3 qualification, such as A Levels or an Access or BTEC National Diploma or equivalent in the subject you intend to teach.

3.) 5 GCSEs or equivalent

4.) IT skills to word process assignments and prepare teaching materials.

5.) A successful Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) check.

* In exceptional circumstances, applicants who do not meet entry requirements may be admitted to the course at the discretion of the course leader, if they show evidence at their interview, and in a written test, of their ability to benefit from the course of study.

You will also be required to complete an assessment task to demonstrate your suitability for the course.

The DTLLS is a level 5 course but will include for free the basic fundamentals of how to deliver training at begining of the course and is aimed at providing a basic minimum standard of skills for everyone entering the teaching profession for the first time which we call we call PTLLS. If you do the PTLLS as a seperate course it would cost normally £499 .

We can also discuss how you could apply for a grant that you may access that will pay up to £2900 which you don't have to pay back and would cover 85% of course fees and additional student finance which is available for the next month for doing the DTLLS course.

I have attached some documents for you to get a better idea of the programme and on the finance support available.

We will give support to all our DTLLS clients to get work experience either internally in the college or source out to other providers.
