PLANNING MANAGER / PRE PRODUCTION SCHEDULAR

LEEDS

SALARY DOE

Company – With an international customer-base, our client serves a broad range of customer sectors including self adhesive labels, shrink sleeves, flexible packaging, artwork and design.

JOB ROLE:

* Responsible for coordinating production planning to ensure products are manufactured in the most efficient sequence in line with customer requirements.
* Prepare production plans and work closely with all departments to ensure orders are expediently progressed through the business ensuring a smooth efficient process flow.
* Operational Holiday authorization and integration of non available productive time into the Automated Planning System
* Ensuring print machine manning is aligned with Customer demand and the operational team are aware of production requirements
* Chairing daily morning update meetings to discuss the previous 24 hours production performance and the upcoming customer call off requirement with key stakeholders.
* Advising key stakeholders of works orders to be prioritised in line with production demand, advise slippages likely to affect production.
* Raising purchase orders for Raw Materials on a just in time basis, liaising with suppliers, liaising with purchasing team.
* Attending daily operations meeting, providing performance information for previous 24hrs.

SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:

* Experience in material / production planning understanding customer lead times.
* Working knowledge of MRP principles and systems
* Experience of a similar role within a fast moving Label Printers / FMCG (fast moving consumer goods) environment
* Good organisational, problem solving, time and team management skills.
* Well rounded communicator with the potential to liaise with all levels in the organisation, including customers.
* Possess a strong commercial aptitude and understanding of the impact of their role to the wider business and its customers
* IT Literate, specifically in Microsoft Excel

RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Work closely with all areas of the business to ensure orders are expediently progressed through the factory.
* Advising Purchasing and Inks of material requirements as appropriate.
* Oversee the request of pre-book capacity into the transition of works orders to translate the customer's requirements into firm production instructions.
* Monitor all aspects of the production (and pre-production) processes to ensure a smooth, efficient process flow for each works order.
* Analyse production targets to establish & implement strategies to meet these in conjunction with the operational and technical team.
* Analyse all new demand for assemblies, ensure new planned orders are added to plans with realistic dates and identify any false demand.
* Be aware of and check on the current status of orders progressing through production, especially those behind or at risk to schedule and advise area owners accordingly.
* Ensure Substrate and other consumables purchased are ordered to a “just in time” approach, monitor production planning and amend delivery dates for all incoming materials and consumables wherever possible.
* Update supplier price list with correct prices as changes occur.
* Appraise live order documentation to ensure technical specification and estimate are correct.
* Create weekly production capacity overview and share with European planning teams and discuss capacity constraints. When required organize work to be shared across other European sites.
* When capacity and / or resources are scarce, be able to allocate and prioritise to minimise impact to business.
* Actively seek process improvements and cost saving initiatives throughout the business.
* Arrange for Trial materials and negotiations on price.
* Investigate Invoicing queries
* Attend Monthly Supplier meetings and develop supply chain.
* Purchasing data uploaded to Central Purchasing data base.
* Arrange for disposal of aged stock.
* Collation and analysis of purchasing data.
